The Dance Party at No Pulp CMJ Party: Tuesday 10/19

C’mon, it’s CMJ. It’s about to be a whirlwind of a week full of little sleep, eating greasy food to-go, and then damaging your hearing and/or liver. There’s not too much time for exercise in there. You’ll probably gain a few pounds and then your skinny jeans won’t fit in time for the big parties over the weekend.
That’s why we’ve decided to book the high-energy genre-hoppers, The Dance Party, at 4:45pm on Tuesday 10/22 as part of No Pulp Music’s official CMJ Day Showcase at Arlene’s Grocery. You’ll most likely be dancing during their set, but even if you don’t, we think it’s quite possible that you’ll burn at least 1200 calories just watching then perform, and you’ll still be able to shimmy into those tight pants come Sunday just because we thought ahead for you. Your welcome!
With heavy synth, falsetto vox, quick beats, and Price-worthy dance moves, The Dance Party’s performance will make you smile, dance, buy their album, and possibly shimmy your way to the bar for a drink before you dance some more. We recently saw them at Bowery Ballroom opening for the fabulous Dan Black, and they blew us away. We left with their single, “Sasha Don’t Sleep,” stuck in our head and a bit of jealousy for frontman Mick Coogan’s curly rock star hair.
Check out their music and learn more from their [almost] n00die-filled, sexy Myspace page: here. Or better yet, purchase the deluxe-edition of their new album Touch on iTunes!
